At the municipal museum, the attendant hands you an aging audio guide. The number you press describes a room other than the one around you. A printed map offers a proper route, yet faint music comes from a side corridor the guide never mentions.
You leave the orderly tour for a few minutes and follow the sound. The small gallery is almost empty. At its center hangs a painting without a label because the frame arrived before its records. You know neither the artist nor the reason it is here, which makes you look longer instead of reaching immediately for an answer.
On the way out, the device offers to summarize the tour you did not take. Switch it off before the ending. What follows you home is not the recorded explanation but one color from an unnamed painting. It may be the first thing in a while that you chose to remember without being instructed.
