Before the neighborhood bakery opens, its test loaf comes from the oven sunken in the middle. It smells excellent, but its shape will never suit the glass display. The baker stares as if the whole morning has collapsed with it, and you know how much careful work preceded this result.
Instead of hiding the loaf in the bin, you slice it thin and return it to the heat. The failed bread becomes crisp crumbs, and the butter and herbs that nobody noticed in its first shape suddenly become clear. The mistake does not repair itself. It changes jobs completely.
By noon, those crumbs arrive on a plain bowl of soup, and someone asks what makes it taste so good. Nobody needs the story of the loaf that would not rise. Some outcomes do not require rescuing the original plan. They ask you to notice a use that success would have concealed.
