At a weekend seed exchange, you find an unlabeled packet among carefully documented varieties. The seeds are small and dark. The person at the table cannot remember whether they came from a flower or something edible. Your garden has limited space, and every planned row already has a purpose.

You take the packet and reserve a narrow strip along the edge, away from sensitive roots. You neither let uncertainty command the whole garden nor drive it away. You mark only the spacing, then plant without deciding in advance what shape must emerge.

The answer will not arrive by sunset and perhaps not this week. The first leaves will reveal the plant gradually. A good decision does not always require knowing the result. Sometimes it means giving the unknown a measured place where it can surprise you without disturbing everything around it.
